Local knowledge of landowners and land managers is critical to minimizing the impacts caused directly bywildfire as well as the impacts caused by fire suppression operations.  Good pre-fire plans identify valued resources, fire hazards, access, and water resources for responders and provide operational and evacuation procedures for landowners and residents.  Pre-fire planning is also used to identify where infrastructure can be improved and hazards reduced through actions like fuel breaks.
